The party escorted AB-101 up the stairs. Together they’d face the metal man’s Competitor: The construct known as 2-2B.

They were briefly blocked by a bubble field, similar to that encountered on the first floor. It manifested differently, allowing slow-moving objects to penetrate. AB-101 reached through the field, pressed a few buttons, dispelling the obstruction.

Confrontation
AB-101 immediately charged 2-2B pummeling his foe. The misshapen construct responded with a warbling screech, destroying one of AB-101’s assembled skeletons, and temporarily disabling the metal man. A pincher lanced out, tearing a chunk from the metal man’s arm.

The rest of the party attacked the yellow musk zombies. Several were mature, and more difficult to fight.
Zoltan, in a rage, swung wildly, completely missing his zombie. However, this left an opening for Del-Li to land a devastating sneak attack.

The yellow musk plants released their intoxicating aroma, briefly captivating Ada and Zoltan.
AB-101 was struggling against his hulking foe, so Venlana threw Eldritch Blasts in support.

The Yellow Musk was losing its potency against the party, and the zombies were put down one-by-one.
2-2B reached out with its pinchers, and tore AB-101 apart. The metal man collapsed.

The party closed in on the construct that created these abominations. The end was near.

2-2B was reduced to scrap metal.
The party explored the now-cleared tower upper level, and the roof defenses. Venlana set to burning the yellow musk creepers, all of them.
Del-Li and Wil-Li examined the strange artifacts on the tables. Most devices were inscrutable, but Del-Li realized the disks were “parts” for his laser pistol.

And so concludes the mini-adventure prelude to Expedition to the Barrier Peaks. Rolen claimed the tower as his domain.

Those disks will come in handy! Awesome that they were able to clear out the tower. Curious how Rolen ends up redecorating it. 🙂
For a moment, I thought Rolen might keep some of Yellow Musk plants, but no his apprentice Venlana torched ’em all.
Wow. My dorky friends bought the module from a bookstore on a snowy day. We walked across town in the snow (school was closed that day), purchased the more colorful edition you show here, and walked back to my house. We spent the day examining the thing. We were Grayhawk noobs. Ending note: I never did buy Gamma World. What the actual hell?
Gamma World was my first non-D&D game back in the game. Lotsa fun, if you like Barrier Peaks, then Gamma World is right in your wheelhouse.
