In The Aurelian’s shop, Nick, Perry, and McCoy stood over the wounded clone of Nick on the floor. All three were battered and bruised from previous encounters.

Nick – unsettled seeing his duplicate right in front of him – wanted to take the bootleg replicant to a safe house for a private interrogation. He knew chaos would erupt bringing his doppelganger into LAPD headquarters. And McCoy’s own double was still on the loose. How many fake cops were out there? Nick feared the worst.

But Deputy Chief Holden was insistent: Come to HQ immediately. Nick pleaded for Holden to come out to meet them privately. Holden was unmovable. “That’s an order.”

Previous Session (plus a recap of their “in-between case”) linked below. ALL MY SESSION RECAPS ARE FULL OF SPOILERS. You’ve been warned.

Day 3, Morning – LAPD HQ

The three bladerunners arrived at HQ with their captive. Perry arrived early on his new LAPD Spinner Cycle.

Holden met Perry in the lobby, and immediately had him sent to a room to take a baseline test.

Nick, McCoy, and fake Nick (with a bag over his head) arrived. Holden escorted them to his spacious office.

Fake McCoy was there waiting.

Nick drew his pistol, fully intending to retire the bootleg replicant right there and then. Holden ordered him to stand down. Fake McCoy looked shaken, seeing the Real McCoy there, as well as Fake Nick.

Holden had the uniformed officers disarm all the detectives, taking each into separate interview rooms.

Nick found himself, for the first time, on the receiving end of a Voight-Kampff test. The interviewer activated the machine, and began asking cryptic questions…

He passed. Nick was starting to feel like he was going insane, but at least he was confirmed human.

Holden met him as he emerged, having techs install a nearly-indestructible bracelet to assure identification going forward. Likewise with the Real McCoy as he emerged.

Fake McCoy was brought out in a straight jacket and protective mask.

The wounded Fake Nick was already in interrogation. Nick gave Holden bio-samples he’d collected from the various bootlegs.

Perry showed up at this time, while Real Nick went to assist in questioning.

Fake Nick was actually named “Noah”. He revealed that someone called “Mother” created Noah and their “siblings,” and that they came to LA together “take back what is rightfully hers.” All the bootlegs had biblical names.

  • Ellis Vale, the replicant that flipped out in the beginning, was “Jeremiah”
  • Fake McCoy was “Ezekiel”
  • There were two others – unseen thus far – named “Miriam” and “Amos”. A sketch artist was summoned.
  • “Mother” seemed to be the leader.

Perry, who’d been popping in the room from time to time, had a hunch. He grabbed a newspaper, folded it to an article, asking Noah if this was “Mother”. Noah nodded.

The lead conspirator was Lilith Tyrell. Daughter of Eldon Tyrell.

Who was dead. Nick and Perry saw her corpse with their own eyes back during the Electric Dreams case.

Noah told them the group planned to attack the Wallace building. He didn’t know when, but it was soon.

Day 3, Afternoon – Wallace Building

Holden agreed. Nick and Perry should go warn the Wallace Corp that they were the target of terrorism.

The bladerunners immediately left for their spinner and cycle. It was a short trip over dystopian Los Angeles. They were immediately granted entrance, and a bald receptionist took them to their liaison, Quell.

Quell, dressed in a white business suit, received them. A Wallace Corp guard stood nearby.

Coldly, “Quell” told them there was a security breach – bootleg Replicants copying the appearance of key personnel have infiltrated the building. The security detail has been compromised.

Which was exactly what Nick & Perry was going to tell her.

Abruptly the back door opened and another Quell entered the room, this one dressed in black. She too was accompanied by a security guard.

The two Quells drew pistols, both .357 subcompacts. Both guards, confused, pointed their guns at Nick & Perry. A fusillade ensued.

Quell & Quell shot each other. Nick dived behind a couch, firing at one of the guards. Perry drew his trusty lead pipe, smacking the guard close to him.

The fight ended as quickly as it started. Both Quells were dead, as well as the guards. Nick & Perry managed to avoid serious injury.

Alarms blared. The bald-headed receptionist popped his head in the room. “Mr. Wallace wants to see you.” Bewildered, the detective pair agreed. They were led through secret maintenance corridors.

Passing through a pair of huge doors, the Blade Runners step into the large hall. Massive pillars line the room and immense plate windows offer a breathtaking view of the sprawling city far below. Niander Wallace stands there in the middle of the room, bathing in a golden light. By a huge table, a woman sits smoking, in shadow. Next to her, an owl is perched on a statue.

Niander turns to the visitors and speaks:

“They cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains.’ Welcome, Blade Runners, to my inner sanctum. There is no cause for alarm. I am so very happy to meet you.”

The detectives asked Wallace to introduce the woman.

She stood.

It was Lilith Tyrell.

“The Lilith Tyrell you saw die was a Replicant copy of the original. She was like a sister to me, and I mourned her passing. She made a great sacrifice. There will be more, in my struggle to free Replicants from the yoke of human oppression.”
Lilith shows the translucent data sphere to the Blade Runners, and continues:
“This memory sphere contains the secrets of Replicant design that Wallace unjustly took from my uncle Eldon Tyrell. My own Replicant children do not last. They burn brightly but too quickly. With this data, I can create a whole new generation of free Replicants. Don’t you see? Replicants are the next step of human evolution. It’s their turn now. Humans have done enough damage to this planet. I ask you
to join me.”

Nick & Perry were unmoved. This “Wallace” was clearly a fake. They drew their blasters. Lilith and “Wallace” drew and fired.

It went poorly for Lilith and her replicant. Wallace took gunshot wounds, and Lilith was shot through one eye.

The large doors were thrown open, the real Niander Wallace entered the room, flanked by four security guards.

His “wifi eyes” in orbit around him, Wallace shot dead his impostor.

Lilith dropped her pistol. Wallace spoke to her.

“How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, daughter of the dawn.”

The guards seized Lilith. Wallace turned to the detectives, pleased.

“You have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, you have kept the faith. Now there is in store for you the crown of righteousness.”

He told them he’d remember their names. But he had much on his mind at the moment.

“Now leave me. Go forth on your journey, guided by my faith in you, as the sun sets on this chapter and the dawn of a new beginning beckons upon the horizon.”

THE END.

Blade Runner RPG: What’s available

Blade Runner RPG items for sale at Wayne’s Books

The Starter Set has the first case, Electric Dreams. This beginner box is an embarrassment of riches: A basic rules book, the Electric Dreams adventure, Cards and lots of Handouts, and the special dice. Fiery Angels is also available of course.

I also sell the Blade Runner Dice sets separately, but they’re purely optional. You can use normal RPG dice; just know that 6+ is a success, 10+ a double success, and a 1 is particularly bad if you “pushed” the roll.

The hardcover rulebook and screen are great if you want to deep-dive into the system – and you probably will.
