The classic Judges Guild City State Campaign supplements were released with sequentially-numbered maps of portions of the campaign world.

I don’t know a lot about the City State campaign world. How these maps all fit together, that was always a mystery to me.

Today I was listing a pair of Wilderlands of the Fantastic Reaches sets (1st and 3rd prints, 1980), and I noticed the back of book one of the 1st print set had a map on the back answering just that question. So I thought it’d be worth noting here.

The 3rd print‘s booklet has a continent map as well. But this map is inaccurate. It’s clear that the continental map was separate from the overlay with the numbered map outlines, and was printed askew from where it should be. The 3rd print map is not horribly off, but definitely askew.

Wilderlands Campaign World Map

EDIT 6 Jan 2026

The City State of Tarantis (1983), the last of the original City State campaign books published, has an Easter Egg: A full campaign map of the world of the Wilderlands.

The map has no markings to indicate the supplement of origin. It’s printed on the same parchment paper as the numbered maps, approx dimensions 20 x 29″. Very large scale… you’ll need a strong magnifying glass to see any detail. It’s clear from the hexes that it was reproduced from all the previous Campaign Maps put together.

I’ve seen two versions, both are printed on each side. Front has a hex overlay. Version A has the same map on the back (hex-free). Version B has a featureless blank hex grid on the back.

It’s very miniaturized!

The Judges Guild Tarantis pack is of course long out-of-print. Buyer beware: Even in used copies, this map is often missing, as it’s unlabeled and not obvious that it belongs to Tarantis… and so was frequently separated from the rest of the Tarantis supplement pack over the years.
