JORUNE is the RPG that Dragon magazine readers saw in ads back in the day: Exotic art and background that set it apart from the usual medieval fantasy genre.

I’ve already gone into the background of the game in my profile of the second edition set, so I won’t repeat it here. Instead, I have the 1st edition paperback passing through the shop, and wanted to post some reference and comparison photos. The original book is very seldom seen, and is mostly unknown to the gaming community.

Comparison with the Second Edition

What becomes immediately apparent, inside and out, is that the 2nd edition is a complete re-do and re-write. Some of the art is repeated in the 2nd edition, but not all illustrations cross over. Despite coming out only a year after the first edition, the text is entirely re-written and re-typeset. Which is a good thing, as the first edition uses a lot of dot-matrix printing from a personal computer, which makes it look dated.
